edition of 15 without frame

In ‘badluck’, Jan Q. Maschinski lives through the traumatic events of Friday, 01.01.1993. At the age of 9 years a firecracker exploded in front of his right eye, eventually blinding him for the rest of his life. This drastic event is the point of departure for his work, where he tells his story in symbolic and metaphorical pictures which process the traumatic events he lived through throughout his childhood.

Jan Q. Maschinski was born 1983 in Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia. He graduated from the University of Applied Science in Bielefeld with a Bachelor of Arts in Photography in 2014 and with a Master of Arts in 2017.
The main subject of his work has been the displaying of inner conditions on the outter body. In his pictures, he deals with mental and or psychical experiences. His works are in municipal archives and private collections.
