Kerstin Kary works in drawing and painting mostly. Probably best known for her drawing series ‘all you pretty gigs’, an ongoing project capturing on paper every concert she attended since 2014, she is a different kind of sound artist. Music has always been a great influence on her and runs through her practice like a red thread. Her drawings feature on covers for Berlin based band Wichswut, Covenant (tba) and Depeche Mode. Lovers, rebels and ‚Nachtgestalten‘ are other reoccurring themes in her work, characterised by a strong focus on expression, placing power over beauty.
She’s trained in Design and Costume studies in Hamburg and Fine Art in Wellington, New Zealand. After a short visit to the film world, she focused on her art practice. Kary lives and works in Berlin.
